The Frontier School Corporation was notified by the White County Sheriff’s Department of an alleged shooting incident at the corner of Main Street and Indiana 43 at approximately 7:22 A.M. on Tuesday, November 17, 2020.  The White County Sheriff’s Department also reported the alleged shooter was still at large.  At that point, Frontier School Corporation instituted a lockdown procedure at the Frontier School Corporation Superintendent’s Office located at 126 E. Main Street and Frontier Jr.-Sr. High School located at One Falcon Drive in Chalmers, Indiana.

Additionally, two Frontier School Corporation buses who normally operate within Chalmers were diverted from the Chalmers area to Brookston to Frontier Elementary School.  A message was sent to all Frontier Jr.-Sr. High School students in route to Frontier Jr.-Sr. High School to shelter in place.  Students already arriving at Frontier Jr.-Sr. High School and sitting in cars at the jr.-sr. high school were ushered into the building for safety.

At approximately 7:55 A.M., Frontier School Corporation was notified by the White County Sheriff’s Department the alleged shooting incident had been resolved and the lockdown was lifted.

All questions regarding the investigation into the alleged incident should be directed to the White County Sheriff’s Department.

Frontier Jr.-Sr. High School is experiencing a normal instructional day with an increased security presence in the Town of Chalmers with units from the White County Sheriff’s Department and the Indiana State Police providing additional security.  At this time, Frontier Jr.-Sr. High School staff and students are safe.
