Frontier School Corporation was notified on Sunday, October 18, 2020 that a student who was in attendance at Frontier Jr.-Sr. High School for the period of Monday, October 12, 2020 through Wednesday, October 14, 2020 had tested positive for COVID-19. The student didn’t have any symptoms until Thursday, October 15, 2020 and was not in attendance at Frontier Jr.-Sr. High School on Thursday, October 15, 2020 and Friday, October 16, 2020.
Per Center for Disease Control protocols, Frontier School Corporation had to contact trace any individuals having contact with the student defined as sustained contact for fifteen minutes or more on Tuesday, October 13, 2020 and Wednesday, October 14, 2020 or the forty-eight hours preceding the development of symptoms for the student testing positive for COVID-19.
Frontier School Corporation conducted the contact tracing on Sunday, October 18, 2020 and Monday, October 19, 2020. Eighteen (18) students and one (1) staff member were ruled to be close contacts and instructed to self-quarantine for fourteen days from the time of the contact period. Unfortunately, four students identified as a close contact were Cross Country team members, Football team members, and Cheerleaders and won’t be able to participate in IHSAA tournament action this week.
At this point, all students and staff deemed as contacts and per CDC guidelines are recommended to self-quarantine have been contacted by Frontier School Corporation. If your student has not been contacted he or she was not deemed to be a close contact.
It should be noted the COVID-19 exposure resulting in the positive test occurred at a non-school related event.
Frontier School Corporation will use the remainder of Fall Break to clean and sanitize the classrooms impacted by the COVID-19 exposure.
