Dear Frontier School Corporation Parent:
The 2017-2018 school year at Frontier School Corporation has ended. I hope your son(s) or daughter(s) are enjoying summer break. The purpose of my letter is to provide you some information on student performance in reading, language usage, and math at Frontier School Corporation during the 2017-2018 school year. The academic performance of students was outstanding. Frontier School Corporation enjoyed outstanding proficiency and growth during the 2017-2018 school year.
Frontier School Corporation utilizes assessments from the Northwest Evaluation Association to provide a snapshot of student progress toward mastery of academic standards in reading, language usage, and math three times a year. The Northwest Evaluation Association (NWEA) provides the assessments to over 10,000,000 students in the United States. A norming study was conducted in 2015 and Grade Level Mean RIT scores created. Those Grade Level Mean RIT scores can be utilized to compare student performance in reading, language usage, and math. Additional the Northwest Evaluation Association looks at student growth as well.

In reading, Frontier School Corporation exceeded the NWEA Norm Grade Level RIT at each grade level. The actual growth was greater than the projected growth in three out of seven grade levels. Frontier School Corporation had the highest Reading RIT score in comparisons with two other school corporations in three of the seven grade levels. Reading proficiency and growth were good for 2017-2018. Frontier School Corporation had a higher average RIT score in comparison to School Corporation #1 in four out of seven grade level comparisons. Frontier School Corporation had a higher average RIT score in comparison to School Corporation #2 at five out of seven grade levels. Frontier School Corporation acknowledges a deficit in growth in four grade levels and will work to eliminate this deficit.

Frontier School Corporation exceeded the Northwest Education Association Norm Grade Level RIT at every grade level for Language Usage. Four out of the nine grade levels had tremendous growth with the actual growth exceeding the projected growth. Frontier School Corporation had the highest RIT score in three out of seven reported grade levels in Language Usage in terms of the comparison school corporations. Frontier School Corporation had a higher RIT score in all six grade levels reported in comparison to School Corporation #1. Frontier School Corporation had a higher RIT score in four grade levels in comparison to School Corporation #2. Frontier School Corporation acknowledges low growth in three grade levels and will work to eliminate this issue.

Frontier School Corporation students scored at or above the Norm Grade Level RIT score all reported grade levels in math. Student growth in three grade levels met or exceeded growth projections in four out of nine grade levels. Frontier School Corporation acknowledges the need to increase student growth at multiple grade levels and will work to improve in those grade levels. Frontier School Corporation Grade Level RIT was higher in a comparison to School Corporation #1 in six out of nine grade level comparisons. Frontier School Corporation Grade Level RIT was higher in a comparison to School Corporation #2 in three out of seven grade level comparisons. Frontier School Corporation acknowledges low growth in four grade levels and will work to improve student growth in those grade levels.
Frontier School Corporation’s performance in reading, math, and language usage was strong during the 2017-2018 school year. The average RIT at each grade level was at or above the National Norm Grade Level RIT established. In head to head comparisons with two (2) additional school corporations, Frontier School Corporation students did very well. Parents should be confident in the instruction students received at Frontier School Corporation in math, reading, and language usage during the 2017-2018 school year.
