Own a piece of Frontier history!

Recent upgrades are being made to the Frontier Junior/Senior High School auditorium in recent months including new seating, paint, carpet and flooring intended to improve the area as we invite community and parents into our facilities to take in the variety of performances and events our schools have to offer.

As a result of changing out seating in the auditorium, patrons have the limited opportunity to purchase an auditorium seat for $5.00 each before the remaining seats are disposed of.  Any patron, parent or community member interested in owning one of the auditorium seats set for disposal should bring monies to the Frontier School Corporation Office as soon as possible, since pre-paying will be the only way that seating will be held.  Orders will only be taken until May 29th or until the seats are all spoken for, or will need to be removed by the new vendor.  Act quickly if you are interested.

Reduce TV/Screen Time with This Tip

Is your child spending countless hours in front of a TV or tablet? Do you wish that your child would spend their time doing other things such as playing outside, reading or doing homework and chores?
Have them “buy” their screen time instead. For every one minute they would like to spend in front of the TV or tablet, they must spend one minute doing an activity of your choice such as homework, playing outside, chores or reading. They will need to purchase their time with these minutes. Time doing these things at school does not count and banking time from a previous day does not work either. Time must be used on day it’s earned.
Give it a try! You may be pleasantly surprised with the results!

Summer Reading Program

How are you spending your summer? There are a lot of demands on your time during the summer. About this time of year, everybody is mentally making a list of how to spend summer break. In addition to summer ball, 4-H and vacation, make sure you add reading to that list. Reading is a great thing to do in the car, at the pool, waiting for service at a restaurant or even while camping.
Do you want to learn a new hobby? Learn more soccer skills? Have you always wanted to bake bread? Do you know how fireworks work? What about star gazing, or Indiana’s state park system? All of these things can be found in a book. You get to choose what interests you.
In addition to reading being just plain fun and relaxing, it is a great way to keep fresh on your grammar and vocabulary. Reading just four books over the summer will help keep you sharp for the next school year. And you get to help Scholastic Inc. break a new world record. Their global goal is 325 million minutes read between May 4 and Sept. 4! How much better can that get? You help Scholastic. You help yourself. You have fun. For more information on breaking a world record, and choosing good fit books, see you favorite librarian this summer.

Graduation

It has been an amazing year and an amazing journey for our seniors at Frontier. They have put in years of hard work, and as a result, their futures are coming together before their eyes. Some have been accepted to colleges across the country, some are perusing a specific vocation while others are taking advantage of community college.
We will come together as a community to celebrate these students’ accomplishments together at our annual graduation ceremony on June 6, 2015. We hope to see you there!
